22/07/2020 — EX EXPO
Do you remember this building? This was the iconic Dutch pavilion at the #Expo2000 in Hannover. It has been laying idle for years and it seemed that not much would happen to the dilapidated carcass. But then the city of #Hannover has been expanding into what once was a fringe location.
I recently picked up information that its designing architects @MVRDV are going to revisit the building. The landscape themes of the original design will be converted into co-working #offices, meeting rooms and a sky bar with their key characteristics maintained. Further, two new buildings will be added that form a perimeter block around the ex-pavilion. One will contain student #housing and the other offices and parking.
Great to see a sustainable reuse scenario happen to this formerly supposedly untransformable icon!
