This is #VillaHeike, erected in 1911 for Berlin industrialist Richard Heike. The building had many purposes, being an exhibition space for the manufactured machinery, containing offices and the industrialist’s very own apartment. Its #concrete skeleton construction was quite avangardist at its time. The building style is influenced by historicism and art déco and marks the starting point to the era of modernity. After 1945 it hosted the secret NS archives of the Stasi. In 2019 it was gutted and carefully refurbished and now provides space for creative #offices and artist studios. In 2020 Villa Heike will open its doors to the public on 13th September, the day of the open heritage site.
