The Väre building is the architectural centrepiece of the #AaltoUniversity Campus in #Espoo and a prime example of contemporary Finnish architecture. Designed by Verstas Architects, it connects the School of Arts, Design and Architecture with the School of Business and the A Bloc shopping centre - all under one roof and directly connected to the metro.
With its #façades of handmade red #brick and printed #glass, the building references the iconic buildings of Alvar Aalto and blends harmoniously into the campus ensemble. Inside, light-flooded atriums, open #staircases and transparent walls create an inspiring atmosphere that promotes creativity, dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Väre building also stands for sustainability: it uses only renewable energy, is 90% self-sufficient in heating and cooling and generates electricity via solar panels on the roof. Here, architecture, design and business merge into a lively centre for innovation and encounters - a place that makes the future of #learning and #working visible.
